According to the church records of Pleasant Grove [No.3] Baptist Church in Scott County, Arkansas, B. F. Newberry, was received by letter in March of 1893.  In April of 1893, he was placed on a committee to look after the church property and in December of 1893 he was excluded from the church for joining a church of another  demonination.  The Pleasant Grove Baptist Church was located about six miles east of Waldron, Scott County, Arkansas and B. F. Newberry left it to join the Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant, in the Greenridge community nearer where he lived.

The marriages of the children of Martha Catherine Hutchison and Benjamin Franklin Newberry are: 

a.   Eula L. Newberry [21 Sep 1894-5 Sep 1944] married Claude W. Garvin [18 Jan 1891-6 Nov 1961] in Scott County, Arkansas Marriage Record Book D page 403.  Claude W. Garvin was born on 18 January 1891 and died on 6 November 1961.  They both died in Scott County, Arkansas and are buried in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.  Their children were all very handsome and of excellent christian character and are:  Wilburn, Glendale, Gertrude, Lucille, Clyde and Pauline.  Gertrude Garvin married Coy Eppler and lived until he died in the Greenridge/Mt. Pleasant Community thereafter remarried and moved to Texas.  Lucille Garvin married Drexal Holaday and they made their home in California.  Clyde Garvin married Maxine Owens of Scott County, and relocated to California and again to Wagner, Oklahoma where they now reside.  Pauline Garvin married John Eppler of the Mt. Pleasant community and they had two daughters: Norma and Greta.  John Eppler died suddenly of a heart attack and later, Pauline remarried Mr. Bill Heavener and lived on City Lake Road northeast of Waldron, Arkansas in Scott County.  After World War II, Wilburn Garvin married a lady in Ohio and upon returning made his home in that state, as did Glendale Garvin, until more recent years when he relocated to Florida.

b.  James Hilary Newberry, son of Martha Catherine Hutchison and Benjamin Franklin Newberry, was born on 8 November 1902 and died on 22 July 1977 in Sangergonia, California with burial in Banning, California, in the Banning Cemetery.  According to Marriage Record Book E page 274 of the records of Scott County, Arkansas, James Hilary Newberry, 18, of Greenridge, first married Florabell Doughty, 17, of the Greenridge community on 10 October 1920.  She was the daughter of Newton Doughty and Lou Neal.  The children of James Hilary and Florabell Doughty are:  Wando Newberry; Charles Newberry; Frankie Newberry; Jerry Newberry; Martha Lou Newberry; and Dickie Newberry.   Wando Newberry was a tail gunner during World War II and his plane was shot down in the English Channel resulting in his death. Charles Newberry served in WWII but returned to Waldron, Scott County, Arkansas where he lived until the spring of 1999.  Frankie Newberry, also, served in World War II, but returned to live out a very full and enterprising life in Scott County, Arkansas until the summer of 1999 when he died of a heart attack.  Jerry Newberry, served in the Korean War but returned safely to settle in Plainview, Texas where he now resides.  Martha Lou Newberry married Floyd Watkins of Scott County and they continued to reside in the county.  Dickie Newberry, is a very enterprising man and an accomplished carpenter, he resides in Waldron, Arkansas.  Florabell Doughty was divorced by James Hilary Newberry, and after she reared her children, in her mature years, she was very happily married to A. Y. Dozier.  Their years together were short as he passed away.  Florabell lived to see ninety plus years and passed away in the summer of 1999.

c.  The youngest son of Martha Catherine and Benjamin Franklin Newberry is named Harvey Lester Newberry and when he was twenty-one years old, he married Gertie [Gertrude] Rhyne, age 18, on 8 October 1927 [Book F page 47, Scott County, AR]  Harvey Lester was born on 6 December 1906 and died on 18 November 1886 in Waldron, Scott County, Arkansas.  Gertrude Newberry was born on 8 June 1909 in Scott County, Arkansas and died on 28 June 1986 in Scott County, Arkansas.  He is buried in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with his family and she is buried in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery #3 nearby with her family.  Gertie Newberry had one daughter by Mr. Claude Hullinger prior to her marriage, Claudia Fern Hullinger.  The nine children of Lester Newberry and Gertie Rhyne are:  Verlia Dean; Wanda Marie; Ima Jean; Mary Ann; Shirley Jo; Bennie Leon; Edna Lea; Lyndia Sue; and Alice Gertrude Newberry.

7.  Henrietta's second daughter, Willa A. Hutchison, born in 1878, in Tennessee, relocated to Scott County, Arkansas with the family prior to 1880, where, at the age of 20,  she married Thomas I. Liles, age 23, on 15 September 1898 [Book B page 411].  After her marriage, it is unclear where Willie A. lived.

8.  Henrietta's third daughter, Fannie Belle Potts, we discussed in paragraph 3 above.

9.  Of Henrietta's four and fifth children, John and William Shaw, we know nothing except their names.
